Venus Fly Trap

The Venus fly trap (Dionaea muscipula) is a captivating carnivorous plant known for its unique ability to capture and digest insects. Native to the wetlands of North and South Carolina, this plant has evolved specialized leaves with hinged “jaws” lined with trigger-sensitive hairs. When an insect touches these hairs, the trap snaps shut, trapping its prey inside.
